Thus the sum of things is ever being reviewed, and mortals dependent one upon another. Some nations increase, others diminish, and in a short space the generations of living creatures are changed and like runners pass on the torch of life.

Does your job suck?
“Though rumors of hundreds of people dying on the work site circulated during the time of [the Empire State Building’s] construction, official records state that only five workers were killed: one worker was struck by a truck; a second fell down an elevator shaft; a third was hit by a hoist; a fourth was in a blast area; and a fifth fell off a scaffold.”
This probably seemed like a scary and dangerous job, mostly because of the risk of falling on a daily basis. These guys couldn’t just take a bathroom break when they were tired and felt like slacking, couldn’t meet someone for lunch at a cafe’ mid-day to break up the monotony. Seems like a pretty shitty job, to most, but it’s all about perspective. All but 5 guys got to say they were a part of building something so great, sacrificing safety to complete a task, they probably got paid pretty well (for the time), and most importantly they got to enjoy an awesome view of New York on a daily basis. Crappy and dangerous or the opportunity of a lifetime?
