Thus the sum of things is ever being reviewed, and mortals dependent one upon another. Some nations increase, others diminish, and in a short space the generations of living creatures are changed and like runners pass on the torch of life.

You're right Eminem, Detroit is losing itself →

Already sick of this Chrysler/Eminem commercial, its dominating my facebook news feed. This is all I will say about it: Chris Roddy looks like a stud, Yon did a great voiceover. With the exception of that, all these people using this opportunity to say they are proud of Detroit yet spend the rest of their life calling it a ghetto make me sick.

Apparently cars are what Detroit does but Chrysler couldn’t find a single ad agency in the city worthy of making its commercial. In my opinion, they showed a lot of nice buildings but people are what make the city what it is and what the commercial lacked was Detroit itself. Plus Chrysler still owes tax payers our bailout money. Why spend so much on this?

This is what Detroit is. Written by someone who lives in Detroit about life long Detroiters. People who make their living in the city, who raise their kids in the city, these people are Detroit.

Maybe it made the nation look at Detroit in a more positive light but how is that going to help the city recover? I hope this bodes well for Chrysler because they spent all of their money selling the city, rather than featuring the car… risky. But not only do I not see the commercial selling any more cars, I don’t see people moving to Detroit because of a commercial. Editing can make the city look pretty nice but lets face reality, if you weren’t willing to live there or move your buisness there before, you’d have to be crazy to be swayed by a two minute ad. In a few months people will forget about it.

Good luck, Detroit. It looks like we are on our own again.
